The Bloomington-Normal Jaycees just got back from the Illinois Jaycees Spring General Assembly in Springfield. The weekend gathering was highlighted with leadership training, award ceremonies, and just a little bit of social fun!
While the work of being a member-ran volunteer organization isn’t traded for trophies, receiving recognition only reaffirms confidence in the mission. On that note, the B-N Jaycees are proud to have traveled back from the latest GA with honors. More details will follow in the next few weeks…

Bruegala 2016 Charities
|
|
Though Bruegala is only two days in August, the Bruegala committee members are hard at work securing all the exciting elements they bring together in the yearly beer, wine, and music event.
The B-N Jaycees chapter completed the difficult process of selecting the charities that receive funds raised at Bruegala 2016. The six non-profit recipients are the McLean County Museum of History, Marcfirst, Community Health Care Clinic, Max’s Miles Foundation, The Tool Library, and Wishbone Canine Rescue.
The chapter is happy to be working with these amazing, local charities for 2016, and would like to thank all of those who applied. Bruegala 2016 is looking to be the biggest yet for the event. Many more announcements are lined up, stay tuned and in touch with Bruegala’s Facebook page.

Farmer's Market The Bloomington-Normal Jaycees will have a booth at the Farmer’s Market in Downtown Bloomington several times over the summer. The chapter is present to meet new people, encourage new membership, and provide the community with updates on upcoming events. The dates will be posted on the chapter's website and Facebook. The Farmer’s Market has a lot to offer, both food and merchandise. Take some time to visit on a Saturday morning and make sure to say "hi" to the B-N Jaycees.

Autism Friendly Community
On a Saturday this month, community leaders met together at Uptown Circle in Normal to demonstrate their support for encouraging a inclusive community for those with and affected by Autism. The event was organized by Autism Friendly Community, and a few B-N Jaycees members were on location to rep the chapter.

Siete De Mayo The chapter’s Individual Development Vice President held an educational celebration at his house on May 7th. Inspired from Cinco de Mayo, this ID event was an infusion of Hispanic cuisine, culture, and history. Don’t be surprised if the next newsletter is in Spanish.

School Carnival Bent Elementary School reached out to the B-N Jaycees for help with their school carnival. No one can turn down running a duck pond or Plinko, so the B-N Jaycees were on hand to lend their leadership and line management skills. Each station kept busy, the night went by in a flash. The kids all seemed to have a great time!

Beer and Wings Members met up at Market Grille in Bloomington’s Hy-Vee for beer and wings. A local brewery was in attendance with its brews and souvenir glasses to memorialize the beer and wings hangout.
