The Blast

This month’s newsletter starts out with a heartfelt thanks to all of the chapter’s members and friends for the help with Bruegala.  Such a massive undertaking wouldn’t be thinkable, or at least would be a mess without all the volunteers.  The amount of money donated to charities each year from Bruegala is astounding, and the effort put in by B-N Jaycees members makes it possible.

And a big congratulations to Jennifer Brown and Leslie Romagnoli on the success of the 17th Annual Bruegala.  The 2016 chairwomen deserve a lot of praise, as anyone can imagine the scope of work that goes into an event of this scale.  Members are encouraged to offer a high five or overly complicated handshake at the next meetup.
There will be exciting announcements to come regarding Bruegala 2016.  As the final counts are being totaled up, the chapter can reflect on the positives from this year’s beer fest.  The music was excellent.  Crowds showed up and the patrons seemed to be enjoying themselves.  The weather held, despite looking like it might rain the whole time.

For now, check out some photos from Friday at Bruegala.

Farmers' Market Finale

The chapter set up a booth at the Farmers' Market for the final time this season to promote Bruegala.  There were some fun games hosted at the table during each visit, giving away Bruegala swag as prizes.  If you missed out, look for B-N Jaycees membership booths next year.

August Event Spotlight
Rural Pub Crawl The B-N Jaycees will once again be sponsoring a Rural Pub Crawl.  For those not familiar, the chapter will rent a bus and travel to different bars in rural areas around Bloomington-Normal.  This is a favorite recurring social event, mark your calendars if you haven’t already signed up!
Brews at the Zoo  August also marked the first Brews at the Zoo, a unique project from B-N Jaycees members.  On a Friday evening, Miller Park Zoo contributed their grounds to the Jaycees to hold a beer and food tasting.  Several exhibits involved the usual experience of learning about the animal, but enhanced the cultural lesson with related food and drink samples.  The Pantagraph even provided the photos, check them out below.  (Photos by Erin Woods)

Supply and Serve A group of the B-N Jaycees met up at the Salvation Army this month to serve up food for the needy.

The Supply and Serve is a recurring project wherein the chapter organizes the donation, cooking, and serving of food to the homeless through the Salvation Army.  Thanks to all who showed up to help out!
