The 10th Annual Tulip 5k for a Cure is scheduled for Sunday, April 22nd at 1 p.m. The race will again be held at White Oak Park in Bloomington.
Each year 35,000 Americans are diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, in which less than 5% of those survive past a year. Studies show that Pancreatic Cancer has the highest death rate of all cancers. WHY????? By the time Pancreatic Cancer is discovered, it is too late. How can this be changed? With early detection, awareness, and research for a better treatment. You can help, by participating in the Bloomington-Normal Jaycees Tulip 5k Walk/Run for a Cure, where proceeds from this event will be donated to help find a cure to pancreatic cancer.
The Tulip 5k is a yearly run/walk to benefit Pancreatic Cancer research. This event grows year after and year and is one the chairwomen, Katy Griesemer has a great amount of passion about. The 5k usually occurs in late April or early May at White Oak Park in Bloomington, IL.
To date, the race has been able to give approximately $15,000 to the Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, MO.
