“The Blast” from the Past The Bloomington-Normal Jaycees are resurrecting our newsletter to provide monthly recaps for all we do, for the community and for each other. While we use our website, Facebook, radio, and other outlets to advertise upcoming events, this newsletter will serve as an illuminating summary of the past month. You'll see the results of projects we worked so hard on and events we enjoyed attending. But we can’t completely live in the past; each newsletter will end with a look ahead in the upcoming month.

Helping Our Community We participated in the Marcfirst Bowl-A-Thon, a bowling tournament that raises funds to help people with developmental disabilities in our county. The report hasn’t been released on whether there were more strikes than gutter balls for the BNJaycees team, but the bowl-a-thon generated over $22,000!

GA Awards The BNJaycees sure had a good time at the recent Illinois Jaycees General Assembly. Some of our impactful projects won awards, some of our impactful members won awards. We received awards for the ending trimester, as well as awards for the ending year. There’s no doubt that 2015 was a successful year for the BNJaycees, both for our presence in the community and our ability to foster great leaders. Congratulations to all the members who won awards or played important roles in award winning projects!

New Trends in Old School Games The Bloomington-Normal Jaycees met up at Red Raccoon Games in Downtown Bloomington and spoke with store owner Jamie Mathy about what’s hot in the world of non-electronic gaming. Best of all, the BNJaycees team got to play a few of the exciting, new games! The night was a great callback to the days of playing board games with your friends for hours. The BNJaycees will definitely be holding a game night with one of the adventures from Red Raccoon Games.
