Congratulations to our members who received individual awards from the recent Illinois Jaycees General Assembly, and thank you to all our members for your involvement in the projects that were awarded to the Bloomington-Normal chapter. 2016 has been a busy year for the B-N Jaycees and it’s nice to see recognition for the efforts made in improving the community.
Looking ahead to 2017, the chapter will be voting on next year’s board members in the November general membership meeting. It’s recommended and appreciated that all members attend to participate in the vote, as this is a crucial practice in ensuring a strong future for the group. The current list of nominations is below. Nominees are asked to confirm and those whose nomination is on hold are asked to submit an answer by the end of November 1st. An updated ballot will be sent out to the chapter shortly after, with voting taking place on Wednesday, November 9th.

Nothing But Nets The B-N Jaycees are joining the Illinois Jaycees in working with a United Way charity called Nothing But Nets. The foundation provides insect nets to communities in Africa to protect residents, especially children, from mosquito bites that often cause Malaria and death.
For every $10 donated, one net is provided through the organization, and one more life is protected. The B-N Jaycees are raising funds through the end of November, the board greatly appreciates any donations and spreading the word.

Facebook Group The Bloomington-Normal Jaycees now have a private group on Facebook. Only chapter members are a part of the group, and any posts/replies can only be seen by group members. Please feel free to use this as a communication tool within the B-N Jaycees, and any suggestions for improvement are welcomed to be sent to [email protected]

Thanksgiving Baskets
The Bloomington-Normal Jaycees will be meeting at (location) at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 20th to celebrate Friendsgiving. Everyone brings a dish for the Thanksgiving potluck to celebrate the holidays with fellow Jaycees.
After the meal, the group will assemble and deliver Thanksgiving Baskets to local families. This is one of the B-N Jaycees annual events that makes an indisputably positive difference in the community. The basket provides a complete Thanksgiving meal to families who wouldn't be able to properly celebrate the occasion otherwise.

Football Tailgating A tailgating team met up on Illinois State’s campus to tailgate for the ISU football game against South Dakota St. Good times, good food and good beer is what the B-N Jaycees are all about. The tailgate session may be good luck too, as the ISU squad beat a tough South Dakota St. team, 38-21.
